Impromptu for solo bassoon (Volodymyr Chernenko) PHYSICAL
This is a 2 minute neoromantic work at an Intermediate Level.
This is a short one-movement work in ternary form using elements of form, harmony and motifs from neoromanticism. The A section “Allegretto” features a motif of eighth and two sixteenths followed by two eighth notes in either a major sixth followed by lower neighbor motion with a large interval jump or a completely scalar motion. The character and style is the stereotypical ironic and humoresque writing for bassoon. The B section “Lento con moto” is a lyrical slurred melody mainly in scalar and arpeggiated motion with the occasional large interval. The reprise of the A section features some slight variations such as the large interval jump is now ascending rather than descending in the opening.
