Phasing in 4 for woodwind quartet (Andriy Lehki) PRINTED
“The piece has been written specifically for Slava Ukraini Winds, taking into account the prevailing trends in contemporary music. As I am currently experimenting with various compositional styles, this work was conceived as a synthesis of traditional minimalist techniques — with phasing as its structural foundation — while also embracing the emerging neominimalist tendency toward a unified, universally accessible musical idiom.
The composition features gradually shifting rhythmic patterns that overlap and intertwine, fostering a sense of organic, continuous movement. Instead of relying on dramatic contrasts, the piece builds energy through subtle transformations of a single musical idea, allowing listeners to intuitively engage and find their own connection to the music. The result is a work that feels both intricately crafted and naturally flowing, inviting both the ensemble and the audience into a shared experience." - Foreword by Andriy Lehki
